Since the competition has restarted, our matchdays look a little different than what we’re used to.
I’ll try to give you a sneak peek into what playing in front of an empty Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium feels like.
Although it may seem like competing in an empty stadium would feel more like a practice than a game, I can assure you that’s not the case. I see the whole team giving it their best, really putting in a 100%. Everyone on our team knows what we’re playing for, and that gives us the strength on the field.
What’s quite special now is that we can just walk to the stadium after our team meeting. But as far as other preparations are concerned, everything has pretty much stayed the same: the atmosphere in the dressing room, the build-up, and of course the intensity of our warm-up sessions. Now more than ever our focus is really just on the game.
But it’s still strange to play in a different home stadium, and without our fans there by our side. We understand that’s just not possible right now, but we miss them. The fans help us overcome the difficult moments, they even propel us forward. But on the other hand, there aren’t any fans for the opposing team for the away games either. When both teams are on their own on the field, it makes the game a different experience.
Even though you’re at home instead of in the stands, we still feel your support. We hope to make you proud by seeing our hunger to win every game as we keep our eyes on the title.
